22:38 Aug 28 2010
Times Read: 465

Christine woke with a start. Her eyes streaming she slid out of bed and lay on the floor hugging her knees and crying. "Poor girl..." a voice spoke beside her. "Who's there?" Christine stammered between sobs. velevty, sotthing voice answered, "Christine...sweet Christine...do not cry. No more will he pollute your body, no more will that whelp taint your perfect flesh with his touch, no longer, Christine." "What.....what are you talking about? And who are you?" The silken voice turned slightly darker, "That does not matter," it spoke softly but firmly. "Go back to sleep...my angel." The voice faded and Christine's eyes slowly drooped to the sound of singing, slow and heavenly. The masked man disappeared out the apartment window.

Ch. 4 -What is red and tantalizing?

00:28 Aug 24 2010
Times Read: 482

Christine unlocked her apartment door and swung it open slowly. She paused a moment before peaking her head through the frame. "Meg...?" "Yes?" Christine's roommate replied drowsily. "Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were sleeping...on the couch." Christine quickly apologized. "Whatever, just, close the door, it's too bright." Christine, smiled and closed the door, then retired to her bedroom.

The young DeChagny pulled his jacket closer to him, but he could still feel the penetrating breath of the chilly night air like the cold kiss of winter on his skin. He shivered again as the air suddenly got colder. His own house was a couple blocks away and it was getting late. The blonde man quickened his pace and dug his hands into his pockets. He looked behind him and froze. "Oh God..."

Ch. 3

03:21 Aug 22 2010
Times Read: 493

"Sweet, gorgeous, beautiful, innocent, perfect..." The masked man dug his fingernails into his wrist as he stared at the young woman and her male companion from the solitude of the air ducts. How could she let her flawless skin be tainted by this insolent boy's fingers. He had no right to touch her! "Neither do I," the unseen man whispered to himself. "Oh, but how I wish to. How I long for her...how I...forget that I am not deserving of such pleasures!" He chastised himself. "Undeserving and unwanting of such pleasures." The masked figure sighed. "And she is deserving of everything that I cannot provide." He quietly retreated into the air ducts.

"Raoul," Christine spoke. "I had a nice time tonight." "So did I, Christine. Um....Chrissy? You seemed a little distracted in the restauraunt. Is something wrong?" "No, no, I was just thinking about something." They walked up to the door of the apartment building. "Goodnight Ray." The young man smiled at her pet name for him. "Night, Chrissy."

"Yes, goodnight to you, monsieur..." the always-present masked figure whispered from the shadow of the nearby trees. "Goodnight to all."

Ch. 2 - For All The Unforgotten Dreams

01:21 Aug 21 2010
Times Read: 501

The man waited quietly. Nudging an imaginary dust bunny from the the carpet next to his shoe, he glanced at his watch again. "Seven never means seven does it?" he thought to himself. Suddenly, the door in front of him opened. "Hey Ray! I thought you'd be here early." "Early?!" The young Raoul Dechagny snorted. "You said you'd be ready at seven! It's......" then the young man noticed his watch wasn't working. "Nevermind." He smiled as Christine linked her arm in his and they walked down the hall to the elevator. Christine caught her breath when she felt how cold the elevator was. "Why is it so cold in here? I'll never understand why you can stand to live in this old place." Raoul spoke aloud. "It's close to ballet and I can't afoord one on my own, neither can Meg." Christine replied. They couple continued their small talk as they exited the elevator and and walked out into the brisk evening air.

The couple did not notice the yellow eyes watching them surrounded by a pale visage and ebony hair. The thin body that bore the horrid face moved silently out from the surrounding darkness only to melt into another. Watching.

The Last Rose of Summer ch.1- Chill

22:32 Aug 19 2010
Times Read: 507

Chilled air fell from the bleak above as Christine walked toward her apartment. "I wish...no, I shouldn't say that." Christine sighed and continued down the sidewalk. The light snowfall the city had enjoyed last night crunched under her shoes. Christine looked up at the tall spires of New York, proudly showing off their lights as the sun slowly dimmed beneath the sparkling horizon, only visible to those with the fortune to see it. Christine sighed again and trudged up the few steps to the door of her apartment building. She glanced behind her as she wiped her feet on the door mat, then walked into the elevator. She did not see, however, the shadow in the corner of the lobby, watching, wishing. Silently the shadow slipped into a waiting airduct and disappeared from any and all viewers.
